Hydration Challenge – Gauging Your Hydration Levels

On day 1 we talked about setting your ideal water intake and today, we’re going to revisit that and see how well hydrated you are, especially now that you’ve started taking more water on board with the previous task. Ideally, you want your urine colour to be a pale yellow colour. Anything darker than this is a sign of dehydration, so get drinking if you become aware of this!

You’re likely to notice this most when you first use the bathroom in the morning.

Most of us are going to get pretty dehydrated during the night. If you’ve not had anything to drink since you went to bed, you’ll need to start to getting your body hydrated again as you wake up. Drinking a big glass of water first thing in the morning is a great move as it also helps with digestion. Add a slice of lemon or lime and you’re doing even better, apple cider vinegar is also great for digestion, so add about 2 tbsp to your water.

Task Time !

Have a good look at your hydration levels today and see how well you’re doing with it now. Don’t just rely on how thirsty you are – see what color your urine is and use that as a fairly accurate guide to your hydration. If you notice it’s fairly dark at any point, take that as a sign to drink a bit more water. And if it looks pale yellow, know that you’re doing a great job with hydration!
